The winner of the prestigious “DongGang Photography Award” for this year is HWANG Gyu-Tae. He is the prominent figure of the postmodernist movement in Korean photography and has been active since the 1970s. Hwang is widely known for his various experimental attempts such as multi-printing, the burning of the film, and his collages and montage techniques.

국내 최고의 권위와 역사를 자랑하는 ‘동강사진상’의 올해 주인공은 황규태 작가다. 황규태 작가는 1970년대부터 ‘멀티 프린팅’, ‘필름 태우기’, ‘콜라주’, ‘몽타주’ 등 다양한 시도를 이어온, 한국의 대표적인 포스트모더니즘 작가로 손꼽힌다.

전 세계 사진예술의 경향과 이슈들을 중심으로 진행되는 국제 사진전시로, 동시대 사진의 흐름을 보여주고 국내 사진문화의 선도적 역할을 수행하는 동강국제사진제의 대표적인 전시다. 올해는 <사랑의 시대>라는 주제로 국내외 사진작가들의 다양한 작품들이 전시된다.

전 세계 사진작가들의 다양한 사진들과 현대사진의 현재를 확인할 수 있는 전시다. 올해는 <사랑을 말할 때>라는 주제로 전 세계에서 사진작가들이 참여한 공모전에서 최종 20명이 선정되어 독특하고 다양한 시간을 볼 수 있는 전시이다.

The purpose of the International Open Call is to capture the very essence of the contemporary practices in today’s photographic landscape. Under the name of <When You Express Love…>, this year’s international Open Call invited the works of the twenty finalists that reveal to us diverse expressions of love that vary between cultures according to their respective bounds of norms. Photographers from all around the world will showcase their unique perspectives at the exhibition.

17회 거리설치전은 동강국제사진제의 특화된 전시형태로 올해는 <영월햇살>을 주제로 영월군의 주요 거리가 열린 갤러리로 변모한다. 이는 공공미술의 개념을 도입한 획기적인 전시방법으로 4명의 작가들의 실험적인 시도를 대중들이 일상에서 접할 수 있는 기회가 된다.

The Street Installation Exhibition is one of the key features of the DongGang International Photo Festival. Marking its 12th run, the main streets of Yeongwol county will transform into open galleries under the theme <Yeongwol Sunshine> for the duration of the festival. Adopting the public art format, the exhibition will provide to the general public a chance to observe the experimental artistic attempts close to their daily lives.

전국의 초등학교 학생들을 대상으로 열띤 공모를 통해 선정된, 아이들이 직접 찍은 일상의 사진과 소소한 이야기들을 사진과 일기 형식으로 전시한다.

The exhibition shows the selected photo diaries of the elementary school students submitted to an open call from across the nation. These young students may very well become photographers themselves in the future. Adults can surely be inspired by the world captured by the eyes of children. We can dive deep into the world of children by meeting them at their eye level.

The <Growing Up VI> exhibition was organized to encourage and to communicate with one another and motivate them to pursue more profound activities through the encounter with professional photographers.The exhibition will present both a range of experimental attempts and the intrinsic conservatism of photography.

사진가들이 영월에서 여행과 전시 관람을 함께 하는 문화체험 여행이다. 역사와 관광, 휴양과 문화활동을 접목해, 참가자들은 영월을 찾은 남다른 경험과 즐거움을 사진으로 남기게 된다.
This is a hybrid tour program that blends tourism with an art experience. The participants will witness their wonderful travel experience of the Yeongwol county transform into the bodies of photographic works.
